I finished the book!

This is the cover for my Alaska-Yukon book. I'm going to have it made into a bound book... Terry Cooke composed a poem reminiscent of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and "Dr Seuss." A really brilliant work of words! It was so much fun to digi scrap! I selected photos based on the wording and had a blast. I used photos I had uploaded onto my computer while on the trip from nearly all the members of the group... I am just going through it now to make any last minute changes. Then I'll see about final prices. Fun, fun, fun!

Squeaker in a Bad Mood...

Little Miss Squeaker is grounded for running into the canola field for SIX hours on Sunday. She goes all day and who knows what she's up to....I suspect it's chasing bugs and mice, but she hasn't told me yet.

So she has to stay indoors. The swather will be by any day now and I want an intact kitty. She is NOT impressed to say the least.

We tried using the harness & leash today and ended up impressing her even less. It was entertaining though, watching her get tangled and tripped up. Maybe she didn't like us laughing at her...

Gorgeous Weekend for Camping!

Poor Ted! He rented himself another crappy quad..only had 450 km on it but ran like a wimp!

Trying out Murray's goggles so Ted wouldn't have to eat Mur's dirt, but they didn't fit! Haha!

Tyler & Kristin came out and off the guys go for a ride. Wimpy quad in the rear....

Toasting marshmellows over the huge fire pit in the group area at Mosquito Lake Resort. 108 km north of Westlock, 57 km south of Slave Lake.

We Be Campin' This Weekend

We are finally going to go camping before the summer is over. The days are getting shorter and the nights getting cooler. Our destination is Mosquito Lake, north of here. And no, there aren't that many mosquitoes...it has been too hot & dry this summer! The kids are coming for a day and bringing their quads, so this might be my first quad ride! Whoohoo!

A New Bike & a Bath

Ted bought himself a new bike....no, not a motorbike, a peddle bike. He loves to ride and took a tour all around town. This is the time of year when they go on sale, so he pampered himself.

Then he rigged up a tub with a strap and hook for a Squeaker bath! She wears her harness and it gets hooked onto the strap...voila! she gets bathed without injury to herself or to us!! Especially us! She has been prowling in the canola field out back and is dirty & sticky, unable to clean herself properly, so into the tub she goes...and I must tell you it works like a charm! She takes a LOT longer to get dried off than when she was a kitten, but she smells so nice! And her fur just gleams!
Ted gets a gold star for his invention!

Had a BBQ here yesterday....

We weren't sure how many would show up for the ride and trip to the Westlock Tractor Museum. Almost 30 people! Sixteen Goldwings!

Finally got some Birthday pages done!

July 12th, Dad had a big birthday party for Ted & Nellie. It was a gloriously hot day and we had a lot of laughs.
Here is one page I did for the occasion! It's been so hectic around here since we got back from holidays witht he wedding and all, I finally can settle down to normal and get some things done!

A Trip of a Lifetime

I have finally decided to make an online bound book. One of our Goldwing members wrote a whole story about out 24 day trip, to the rythym of "Twas the Night Before Christmas". It captured all the moments in a nutshell. So....this is my first page. I snaffled almost everone's photos from the trip, so I have a HUGE pool of pix to draw from.

Raining, Raining = Wet Kitty

It has been raining for 2 glorious days! I say that because I fertilized my lawn! Here's hoping it'll turn from a yellow to a green!
When the weather changes, Squeaker gets nutty. She been flying around the house, and outside like a jet! And there is really no dry spot for her to sit out there...I wonder if she thinks she won't get wet if she runs fast enough?
She came in all drenched in water, so I guess I won't mop the floors until the sun comes out again...there'll kitty prints everywhere!
She really loves the outdoors, and I don't know how she'll manage come winter.
I am seriously thinking about getting her a baby sister. That way she will have a playmate during the indoor months. I even have a name tentatively picked out...

Jailbreak!!

We put weed killer on the lawn Friday, and Squeaker had to stay in for a few days so she wouldn't get it on her paws, then lick the poison. She wasn't too thrilled about this!
I worked nights & Sunday morning Ted went on a ride for a STARS fundraiser. Squeaker got out on the sly and he didn't know it. When I got up she still wasn't around & I wondered why her breakfast was still in the dish, and I didn't have a bed partner this morning. I figured she must have escaped ....and so it was. The neighbors had seen her crying at their door this morning about 9-ish, but theycouldn't catch her! I went out to water the plants and she showed up...hot and hungry! And she acted like I was the culprit for locking her out! SHE was the delinquent and escaped! Wait until Ted hears about it..... she's his sweetheart!

New Lattice work

WE have had a little trouble with a black stray cat chasing poor Squeaker into the house....one night he almost ran in after her! So we tried to find a solution from stray & other (ie Pepe la Pews) animals from camping out under the shed. This was what we came up with! Ted even stapled screening to the back just in case a critter got in through the lattice!

My New Son-in-law!

Finally!

I didn't mention this on my Alaska Trip blog, but I forgot my camera charger with battery in Whitehorse at the beginning of our trip. Remember last year, I forgot my laptop in Montana? It's becoming a tradition for me!!
What a fiasco! We thought it would as easy as contacting the hotel and having them forward the battery/charger on to our next destination. Ha! Sending an Expresspost package into the USA is a trifle overkill....they have to send it to Washington to be scanned and examined (presumably for bomb threats and/or anthrax...). We arrived in Tok, Alaska and no package. Ted enquired at the post office and was told the above info. He left a forwarding address and guess what? It arrived TODAY. August 5th. The package was sent from Whitehorse on June 24. It probably got more miles on it than we did!!
Go figure.

I'm sewing and scrapping on my computer!

I finally have 2 days off from both my jobs...hehehe! Yesterday I finished the blocks for a lap quilt, did several scrap pages and finished a book while lounging on the patio and watched Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. Not bad for a lazy day, eh? And I also made invoices for 5 job pickups while Ted was out of town! I felt a little guilty, but hey, I don't get days off very often.

Kristin & friends are in Camrose for the Big Valley Jamboree this weekend. Right now it's drizzling...I hope they keep warm. And Scott is all goo-goo eyed over his new girlfriend...
"she's an angel" says he. (See me grinning??)
