And then . . .

Yesterday while I napped, Ted was busy taking apart another bit of furniture.  Emma had to sniff it all out, then decided to roll on it as well.  Ted was wearing gloves while he worked, and the session quickly turned to rough play . . . .  and then . . . .

the compressor cut in!

Interesting . . .

Walked downtown and saw this amazing icicle show on my way.  Nobody is living in the house so no shoveling has been done . . I would hate to try to get to the front door!  Scary!

Super Groovy Seventies part 2

We set off Sunday morning about nine in sunshine & lovely temperatures, but Chinook winds that wreaked havoc on the roads!  Took us a little longer to reach the Mayfield Inn for Part Two of the Super Groovy Seventies . . . . where we met with ten other Goldwingers all dressed up and ready to EAT!
The Show was hosted by two old buddies from the seventies . . .

Then the music started with all the old favorites . . .

I was having such a great time, until a lady tapped me on the shoulder and said I wasn't allowed to take photos!!!!  Almost ruined the show for me!  However, a great time was had by all and if I can pilfer the KISS photos from Arlene (she got told later) I will add them to this post . . .

One Busy Weekend

Friday night was CATS performance #2 with Dala, 2 young ladies with sweet voices who reminded me of two singers, one soul.  They were absolutely together on every note with perfect harmonies. (Kind of a Sarah McLaughlin style.)  Too girlie for Ted, but excellent, nonetheless.

Today we joined a few more GWRRA members for a tour of the Edmonton Waste Management Center in Cloverbar.  Edmonton has been a leader in recycling for more than 23 years, and we saw how they do it, from sorting garbage & blue bags, making compost, recycling glass jars into patio bricks, making fancy paper from old paper & cotton clothes.
Modern mining is done by disassembling computer and other electronic equipment.  Did you know computesr have gold, silver, copper, lead and other goodies in them?
The Facility covers 600 acres and we had to take a bus around the complex. By 2012 year end, they hope to add a new operation up to make Ethanol fuel from any carbon-based garbage.  That means roughly 90% of Edmonton household rubbish will be recycled.  Not bad!

Toys R Us

Emma was really full of vim & vinegar this morning and after all was said & done, she had left me a toy to play with on my printer.

Are You Digging it?

It was lovely to see the sun this morning!  But I didn't like the depth of the snow in the yard . . . it's only January!!!

Rotary Charter Night

It was a dark & stormy night . . . for the 42nd Rotary Charter night in Westlock.  There appeared to be many of our membership missing due to adverse weather conditions.  Nevertheless, we had a great time schmoozing around the pool at the Westlock Inn.
Phineas, aka Ted is looking more villanous each day . . .
We had an unexpected guest who was pitching a new calendar for avoiding stress in the workplace. Ted helped out with the powerpoint.

Introducing . . . Phineas Flatworm

. . . or at least the beginnings of him.  The Hazel Bluff Community is once again putting on a fundraiser in February . . .  IN THE NEW HALL . . . . entitled "The Villain Wore a Dirty Shirt."
Phineas Flatworm is the villain, aka Ted Brooks, and he started growing a villanous goutee yesterday.  (I thought I'd better capture the start!)  Rehearsals began last week, and the play runs FEBRUARY 17-20th.

Goldwing Supper Meeting Tuesday night

Super turn out in spite of atrocious city roads! The wheel alignment people will be really prospering after all this!  The highways were clear, and we made it to Rosie's in 1.6 hours, which is our summer time!
Slide show courtesy of Chris & Kaitlen, who were so cute!  (Newlyweds have such a sweet way of going about things!)
I think it was the highlight of the evening, as we toured Disney World in Florida, including Epcot Center and the new Harry Potter exhibit!
Here is a cinnamon bun that rivals the Braeburn Lodge in the Yukon, . . . I know I said that before, but this one was the biggest one EVER!

Snowfall Warning No 2

Another snowfall warning ended this morning, but doesn't account for the drifting and blowing.  We are so thankful for the snowblower!   . . . . and colorful vehicles that make it a bit easier to find them!
Look at the snow hanging over the neighbor's house!  Ted was up on our roof earlier this week sweeping ours off, but it's still warm enough to "drip" on you as you fumble for the key, getting the back door open!

Saturday Story

Ted is currently working on the seats from a 1966 Impala Convertible and Emma graciously found a very dead mouse in the seats. (Usually Ted finds old quarters!) She dragged said mouse out into the shop to show him . . . his response was into the garbage!
Later, I walk through the kitchen and find this little treasure sitting on the hardwood floor . . . what?  She evidently went into the garbage to retrieved her mouse and brought it upstairs.
I was just zooming in for a shot here . . .  and she swiped it from in front of me.  With entertainment like this, who needs tv?

What to Do When it Snows

1. Snooze
 2. Observe the neighbourhood
 3. What Emma is seeing . . .

Just Another Day in Paradise

Ted is working on an anitique French Provincial loveseat.  The owner believes it to be at least 68 years old.  It had been recovered 50 years ago! Lots of tacks!

Very Warm Today

I chased the kitties outside for some fresh air & sunshine today. The snow was melting off the roof and anyone coming in or out of the door got dripped on! So at lunchtime Ted went up on the roof to shovel the snow off. then he had to get the snowblower out and clean off the patio. Toys R Us!

The Cats Outta the Bag

I now know where the saying came from . . . .
Emma got the handles around her tummy.

She's stuck and trying to get untangled.

Okay, let's go right into the bag . . .

And just like Houdini, she's free!

Happy New Year!

I'm working all weekend, but wanted to extend a big cheer for the New Year!
