Getting Ready for the New Year

Ted said it was too cold this morning to ride his mountain bike, so off to the gymn, and was it ever packed!  Apparently the whole town is out trying to work off their Christmas dinner!  LOL

I loved the blue tone of this photo as opposed to the one using the flash.  I'm really studying my class notes and working with my camera manual to learn how to take interesting photos!  I guess I should be on the treadmill instead . . .

How's This for Cute?

I wanted to get the girls Christmas sweaters this year! Emma was so funny at first, walking with a stiff lean to the left, then flopping over like a fainting goat!

Now, here's a super model!  She knows how to "work it"

One more little technique I learned in my Photography lessons!

More Fun pics

Jack Frost painted this on my kitchen window.

Emma was really checking out the gifts, but she wouldn't stay still long enough for me to capture her crawling all over them and sniffing . . .  she hates having her photo taken, can't you see it on her face?

Just finishing up the "Capturing the Holidays" photography class . . .  and I am really looking forward to taking the next class in February.  Wow!  I learned so much!

My Son has a Sense of Humor

I love it! This was a search he conducted recently. . . . Can you tell he was "so stoked" to get out sledding?

Photography Lessons

I still have more "tweeking" to do. And I must get a tripod!  I just can't hold the camera still long enough!

No flash photos are so much fun!

Enough Already!

It has been snowing since Tuesday late afternoon, and the whole town needed to be rescued!  I think it has finally stopped, but more is promised to us!  Yay!  Winter in Alberta!
 There'll be no picnics today!

GWRRA Meeting

We attended our monthly meeting in Edmonton yesterday evening, inspite of bad weather forcasting.  The snow didn't really start untiol we arrived in the city and it had stopped there by the time we got out at 7:30pm.  We were in a bit of a rush to get home, and yet the snow didn't start until north of Morinville . . . then it came in blizzard form!
Both these photos were taken upstairs at Rosie's without  a flash.
And the bonus was, I won the 50/50 draw!  A little Christmas mad money!

Got Snow?

What a surprise to wake up and see 9 inches of snow piled up!  And in spite of that, Ted still went out riding yesterday . . .  well he walked part of the way.  Too tough to peddle!!
The chickens,  . . . I mean, kitties went out on the patio, made one circle under a chair, then headed back.
Gotta get the snowblower out today . . . too much for just these!
Guess I'll have to dig out before work Sunday night!

My First Assignment

The first one is called light bokeh, where the lights become round and out of focus.
The second is called Star Burst, where the lights become like stars.
I won't tell you how long it took me to figure out what the buttons and settings were! LOL  I have now printed out the appropriate pages from my camera manual for quick reference.  I'm determined to get it!

Yay! I start my Photography Class Today!

I downloaded and printed off my lesson for today.  Now I just have to study my camera and fiddle a bit and see what I can come up with.  The Lesson is on Light, and I am stoked!  I work tonight so will have lots fo time to experiment.  The Lodge is decorated to the nines, with lots of lights and things to photograph!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Outside, the wind was bitter this morning.  Squeak & Emma didn't venture out much.
Inside, I am starting to decorate for the holidays.  I've got lots of time, so I'm taking it slow & easy.
The kitties were both pretty upset by me moving the furniture around.  It was funny watching them exploring as if I sent them to another planet!  They both ended up sleeping in the chair in the far left of this photo, cuddled together like two orphans!!
