Day 4

As usual the Gang was up and ready to go early.  The only problem is that we have Trip Goers from all kinds of hotels & camping facilities and the best place to gather was at the Rally site, one more time.  We still have to hook up with Larry & Myrna in Cochrane, so it was agreed we’d pick up lunch sandwiches there at TH’s.
Off we go!  It’s 0830. By 0930 we were in Cochrane and lining up for the bathroom and for lunches!  The efficient staff had things moving long very nicely and we were out of there in a jiffy!
The day looks a bit cool.  Someone said it was 0 C in Sparwood this morning.  Suited up accordingly we set off for the Highwood Pass.  OMG!  What an amazing ride!  Everything is so green this year with all the rain.  I have never seen grass grow so high up in the mountains!  It’s gorgeous!
We almost reached the summit by 1130, and desperately needed a potty break so we pulled off at a picnic site, knowing they all have bathrooms as well. It was such a lovely, sunny spot, we decided to eat lunch there as well. For mosquitoes, it is always lunchtime, and I had fun squashing a few – one of Dick’s forehead, which left a blood splatter and also on Emille’s forehead. . . . that one just died and slid down his nose! I missed the one on Mariettia’s forehead . . . just didn’t have my swat refined enough!

The Highwood Pass ends about Longview area, where we had to gas up and buy their famous beef – bison-elk jerky!  Which flavor do you like best?
The next stop was at the Frank Slide Interpretive Center in the Crowsnest Pass.  It was a pleasure to sit in the  air conditioned facility, even if everyone did not go through the center.
Our destination for today is Fernie, BC, which was only 73km from Frank Slide, so we arrived there by 5 pm.  Imagine our glee when we noted the Boston Pizza, actually ATTACHED to the hotel!
